Darlene, sounds like a busy time for the all-class high school reunion.  As of now we do plan to come.  Will let you know for certain when time gets a little closer.  Thanks for informing us of all festivities planned.

Ivy, made the search to discover all cousins and also checked on aunts and uncles.  On my dads side, there were 10 cousins and 4 aunts and uncles.  My mothers family certainly was a different story!  Mother was the youngest of 12 siblings.  There were 57 cousins,  11 aunts and uncles, family gatherings were quite an affair!  So a total of 67 cousins and 15 pairs of aunts and uncles.  Will never forget the joyous noises coming from the kitchen when Mom and her sisters were making lefsa and Norwegian dumplings.  In the early years Mom had Steve come from the grocery store to cook lutefisk for any relatives and neighbors that could come.  Later years, she made it herself but for a much smaller crowd.

Now I'm sure most of our classmates have similar crazy stories about growing up.  So bring up those memories and lets share our histories.  After all what have we got to lose; it actually makes you feel like a kid again.  Approaching 57 years out of high school, its time to relax, enjoy and feel young again.

Barb

Thanks Darlene.  I'm glad I don't pay much attention to my birthdays because if I did I would think I am getting older.

Sure enjoy your posts. Our Thanksgiving consisted of home delivered meals from the Community Thanksgiving group in town.  Delicious !!! Tom  fell and injured his bad foot shoveling snow on Nov. 10.  What was diagnosed as a bad sprain  turned out to be a fracture which requires surgery. We are now waiting to hear when and where.  Would appreciate your prayers.  Thanks in advance.

Darlene & Tom, & classmates,

Praying that Tom will hear a date on his upcoming foot surgery soon.  And the surgeon's skills get things back to normal for him.  Waiting is the hardest part as we humans are not the most patient patients!

Our Thanksgiving feast went on for approximately 7 days!!!  Sons and families arrived on Tuesday before Thanksgiving both from California and Minnesota.  Along with local son and family;  we ate traditional meals, unusual wild game meals,  played card games, board games, even cornhole outside games and watched lots of football. Also had quite a bit of stormy weather but didn't slow us down.  All this along with 3 family dogs it was a hoot but tiring.  Sadly we lost our beautiful "White Willow" dog a couple of weeks earlier due to lung cancer. Having family dogs sure did help tho.

And now Dick and I rest up, get back to exercise, slow our pace and relax.  Waiting patiently for the next holiday but knowing that crowd will only be 7 of us.

Wishing all classmates the awards & joys of retirement and the very best   "Merry Christmas"

Looking forward to our meet-up in the summer!

Out here where cowboy boots reign and the oil flows,

Barb & Dick

Darlene I am sorry to hear about Tom's injured foot. I know how it is not being able to walk good. I was doing well  after my 1st back surgery. Then 12 days later they said I needed surgery again..I said I am doing great and was being discharged from rehab. As I got next to nurses station my nurse said you are not going home. I was   immediately sent back to hospital and had surgery 2nd day later as they thought I might have a blood clot.  After that I went back to rehab and then the issues started. I had surgery October 16, 2018 and and got home the Thursday before Christmas. Then 12 days later I fell and cracked my head.  8 staples later I got home a day later.I am still doing pt. I was sent to 3 or 4 different doctors trying to find out why my rt leg was so weak and I had so many issues with walking, etc.  Finally 1 doctor said I think maybe they nicked a nerve and will have to wait for it to heal itself. I am finally walking carefully with a  cane.                                                                            I had a good Thanksgiving with Darwin and family. Donovan the youngest was there along with ex-wife. Leanna  and family were suppose to come but she was deadly sick. Ate about 2:30 and then played pinochole    and board games until about 8:30. By the time I finally got headed home it was after 10 pm. Lucky I only live about 3/4 of a mile from Darwin. Donovan and Diane had about 27 miles to go.It has been cooler here and is raining today.                                                                                                                    So Dick I hope you recover quickly. Prayers for you. Hope to see everyone next year for reunion, We had our 366 Fighter Association military reunion the first of October so I spent 12 days in Branson, Missouri. I want to go back next spring.. I have always wanted to go back to Africa and Vietnam but right now need to get where I can walk better without a cane.                                                                                                          Wishing every body a Merry Christmas and a Happy and prosperous New Year.

Hi Darlene and Tom- I have been gone and just got home yesterday. So I  just learned of Tom's unfortunate fall. He did not need that at all. So sorry and prayers will be going up for you two.

I spent Thanksgiving in WA with my girls and their families. Chloe's Nutcracker was going on when I was there. Such talent in that new dance company she performs with. Fun to see her mature as a dancer. This was her 10th year of performing in the Nutcracker! Next year will be her last, since she will graduate in 2020!

Love & prayers to you both Sonja

Oh boy, tough road to haul coming up with surgery and all.  But we know you are both strong in spirit and will handle all this as you do everything else.  Remember you've got many classmates pulling and praying for you both.  This is another one of those roadblocks that end up in our way as we continue on this aging process.

Thinking of you,

Blessings, Barb & Dick

I hope you had a Happy Birthday.  I had a busy day yesterday. At church from 7:30 until about                              almost 1:30. After coming home I had some running around to get a few items for Christmas.                                Happy Birthday late.

Classmates of '62,

I believe today is the day Tom was sheduled to have surgery.  Praying he is done with that and in recovery or at the best tucked into his room sleeping peacefully as he starts his recovery.  And Darlene is over the angst and able to get a bit of rest herself.  Praying for both of you.

I believe I've missed a few classmates birthdays recently and I apologize for that.  For some reason I no longer receive notices of birthdays and I shall try to figure that out soon.

We want to wish each and everyone of you warm holidays with loads of family fun as soon the time is upon us.

Merry Christmas all and remember the reason for season!

Barb & Dick Silkey

Tom is home at Golden Acres  Manor following surgery.  No weight bearing for 10 weeks so our steps at home don't work for him.  We're praying for quick healing.  Thanks for all the prayers and  well wishes.  Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all classmates.
